Another busy weekend for our sides across all age groups in TVPL, EBFA and BYDL.

Following on from a good point on Monday to end Berks County’s 100% start to the season, the First Team were back in Thames Valley Premier League action on Saturday. Travelling away to Westwood Wanderers, we found ourselves behind before goals from Ollie Brown and a Chris Smalley-Ward header turned things around as Mellers side came away with a 2-1 victory.

It was fantastic to see men’s football back at the Rec on Saturday afternoon as the Saturday Reserves faced Harchester Hawks. Trailing by one goal at the break, Billy Margetts scored early in the second half to level the scores before the visitors retook the lead. In the final minute a corner from the left was finished by Ellis Graham to secure us a deserved point and maintain our unbeaten start in TVPL Division Four.

A Sunday XI took on a strong Giveback FC team on the 3G pitch at South Reading Leisure Centre on Sunday morning. A hard fought game finished level at 3-3, with our goals coming from Tom McClellan and a Josh Mehmet-Ali brace.

Manager Liam Gillis said, “Great performances all across the side. Three 17 years olds (in the squad) and none looked out of place.”

Another Sunday XI faced Royal Albion at Coley Rec on Sunday morning. A close game eventually finished 4-3 to our hosts. Adie Pratley scored two headers and our other goal coming from Dom Lee.

Our U17 Reds suffered a 5-1 defeat this weekend as they travelled away to play Windsor Youth Harriers Gladiators.

At Willink on Saturday morning our U17 Blues returned to action with a 1-1 draw with Hearts of Teddlothian Tigers. Curis Hall opened the scoring for us with a looping effort in the first half before the visitors levelled the scores late in the game. You can read a match report on the game from manager, Andy Willis, here.

Our U16’s travelled to Maidenhead on Saturday to face Maidenhead Boys & Girls Cobras, finishing on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline.

In EBFA Group 8, our U15 Buffalos took on Hawley Youth Raiders at Willink on Saturday morning. An entertaining game produced seven goals as we were unfortunately defeated 4-3.

After back-to-back draws in EBFA Group 6, our U15 Bears got their first win of the group with a convincing 7-2 victory against Hearts of Teddlothian Tigers at Willink.

There was a yet another goal-fest involving our U14’s as we visited FC Bracknell Youth on Saturday morning. A nine-goal thriller was just edged by our hosts as we were defeated 5-4.

Our U13 Bisons made the journey to Surrey to face Windlesham United Youth Jets. Goals from Risto Parsley and Owen Evans saw us level 2-2 at the break before two goals in two minutes from Kaiyon McKenna and Kai Trust gave us a lead. The hosts pulled one back but we held on the secure the 4-3 victory.

At Mortimer West End on Saturday morning our U13 Buffalos drew 3-3 with FC Bracknell Colts in a highly entertaining and competitive game in EBFA Group 15. Sam Lambourne gave us the lead in a first-half in which we also hit the woodwork three times. The visitors came back strongly in the second-half but goals from James Chaimbault and another from Sam Lambourne helped secure a point.

A tight game away on Saturday morning saw our U12 Rangers come out on top by just a single goal against Old Windsor Tigers.

At the Rec on Saturday morning our U12 Tridents beat Hearts of Teddlothian Jaguars 3-2 to ensure it was a good weekend all round for the U12 age group.

Our U11 Lions travelled away to take on Binfield Reds and U11 Tigers hosted Shinfield Rangers Royals at the weekend in EBFA competition.

Also in EBFA our U9 Oranges also faced a Shinfield Rangers Royals side, whilst our U9 Reds and U9 Yellows were at home against Finchampstead Cobras and Woodley Saints Hyenas, respectively.

There was BYDL action at Kings Meadow on Saturday as our U11 Pythons faced Caversham AFC Wildcats and our U11 Cobras played Caversham Trents Blues.

Also in BYDL action this weekend were our U10s who faced Caversham AFC Gators, our U8 Reds and U8 Greens taking on Purley Jubilee Panthers and Caversham Trents Whites. At goals our U7 Eagles played Woodley United Spitfires, U7 Bluebirds took on Wokingham & Emmbrook Tigers and U7 Ice faced Rotherfield United Lions.
