Despite the stormy weather conditions, the majority of our teams managed to get games on across the various age groups this weekend.

The First Team made the short journey to Theale Rec on Saturday afternoon to face Westwood Wanderers in Thames Valley Premier League. It proved to be a disappointing afternoon, as we found ourselves two goals down at the break before our hosts added another late on as we suffered a 3-0 defeat.

Mellers said, “Well done to Westwood, they played the perfect game plan. Game management all round was superb and most of all they wanted it way more than we did.”

On Saturday the Reserves faced Pangbourne in a top of the table clash in TVPL Division Three. Tom Adams was on the scoresheet twice for us, with a goal in either half, as we were defeated 6-2 at the Rec.

James Randall said, “Certainly a difficult and disappointing day for us after being comfortably beaten by the better side today. One bad result won’t ever define what we are trying to achieve as a group but now is the time for us to all roll our sleeves up and dig deep.”

Our Sunday Firsts hosted FC Sporty at the Rec on Sunday morning. Despite goals from Ollie Brown, Rhys Iremonger and Brad Kerr, we suffered a 4-3 defeat.

The Sunday Reserves faced Reading Kites in a top v bottom of the table clash in R&D Sunday League Division One at Prospect Park on Sunday. Goals from Tom Jordan, Jason Heath and Samson Lace gave us the lead at half-time, before Jim Hardy, Louis Le Bellego (2), James Millard, Rob Timbers and Max Eden all got on the scoresheet in the second-half as we earned a comfortable 9-1 win.

The Sunday A’s hosted Southbank at CSA on Sunday. Josh Mehmet-Ali opened the scoring before Vinny Kennedy added a second shortly after. The visitors pulled one back before Josh got his second of the game to give us a 3-1 half-time lead. After the break Josh completed his hat-trick and James Rimmer added a fifth as we secured the three points to remain in second place in Division Two.

On Sunday morning our Sunday B’s hosted 116 Exiles Reserves at CSA. Goals from Olly Guest, Scott Williamson (2), Lloyd Vickers, Mohamed Zenir and George Munn earned a well-deserved 6-0 victory.

The Ladies faced TVCWFL Development Division league leaders Thatcham & Newbury Town Ladies & Girls at CSA on Sunday afternoon, after the match was switched from Henwick Worthy Sports Ground. A hard-fought game finished all square at 1-1 with Mel Saunders on the scoresheet for us and Jo-Anne Plumley making some crucial saves in goal.

On Saturday morning our U18’s travelled away to face FC Holyport Hawks. We went in 2-1 down at the break before our hosts added a third shortly after the break. Going into the final 10 minutes we pulled one back and then got the equaliser with the final kick of the game as it ended 3-3.

The U17’s hosted Sandhurst Town Boys & Girls Royals on Saturday morning in EBFA Division Three in a game that ended all square at 2-2.

Our U14 Buffalos travelled to Hampshire on Saturday morning to take on Darby Green & Potley Youth Dragons in EBFA Division Eight. An excellent first-half performance saw us lead 4-1 at the break through a Nick Ardern brace and goals from Theo Paterson-Neild and Rowan Wardle. A Harry Devenny penalty early in the second-half added to our lead, before our hosts staged a late fightback to earn a 5-5 draw.
