Debut Goal From Vallins Seals 3 Points!
By James Randall
Goals from Leroy Clarke and Alex Vallins helped Burghfield pick up 3 points against Reading City U23s this afternoon.
Burghfield moved up to 7th in the Thames Valley Premier League this afternoon after beating Reading City U23s 2-0 at Rivers Ibis Club.
Tricky conditions saw a scrappy opening to the game and Burghfield took the lead midway through the first half when a Leroy Clarke corner managed to avoid everyone and found its way into the far corner.
The Blues remained on top for the remainder of the second half and nearly doubled the lead when a Richard Dance effort from outside the box clipped the top of the crossbar.

After a quiet start to the second half Burghfield upped the tempo and a wonder strike from Chris Smalley-Ward rattled the crossbar from the edge of the box.
Not long after, Alex Vallins was introduced for his debut and was immediately involved in the action. A ball down the right hand side wasn’t dealt with by the City defence and Vallins pounced to score with his first touch since coming on to double the lead.
As the wind kept causing havoc, Alex Nikomanis did well coming off his line to make a one on one save to keep the two goal lead intact.
With the clock ticking down Jordan Greaves almost made it 3 with a shot across goal which narrowly missed at the far post.

Conditions were tough for both sides but the boys put in another brilliant shift to pick up another 3 points. 4 wins from the last 5 games has propelled The Blues up to 7th in the table as we look to finish the season strongly.
