Clark Helps Extended Unbeaten Run To 6 Games!
By James Randall
Dean Clark scored the only goal of the game as Burghfield FC extended their unbeaten run in the league to 6 games.
On a mild afternoon in Wraysbury, Burghfield looked to continue their unbeaten run against a solid Wraysbury Village side.
Wraysbury were on top in the early stages but the back 3 of Adam Taylor, Chris Smalley-Ward and James Sayer stood firm to ensure the clean sheet was kept intact.
Burghfield began to grow into the game midway through the first half and Dominic McKenzie was inches away from being through on goal, but the Wraysbury defender just managed to intercept Richard Dance’s through ball at the last moment.
Both sides didn’t give much away in the first half as the sides went in level at the break.
Half Time: Wraysbury Village 0-0 Burghfield FC
Burghfield started the second half strongly and took the lead just 5 minutes after the interval.
Billy Margetts managed to beat the offside trap and unselfishly laid the ball off to Dean Clark to roll into the empty net from 6 yards out.
The Blues remained on top and nearly doubled the lead when a Kieran Smith volley was tipped over the bar by the Wraysbury keeper.
Kieran Smith was involved again moments later as his long range effort was expertly tipped over the bar again by the Wraysbury Number 1.
With the clock running down, Burghfield did well to take the sting out of the game and see out the win for another 3 points.
