Burghfield U17 Vs Barton Rovers
aturday’s game saw an opportunity for us to put another three points on the board against a team that we had already beaten in the Cup a few weeks earlier.
Having lost Symington through injury at short notice , we slotted Johnson into the centre back pairing with Brown and we began the first half in free flow and showed glimpses of the type of quality football that we are clearly capable of.
Using the width across the back line with neat , intricate passing and patient build up play we took an early lead through Rutland and created a host of further chances that could have put the game to bed within the first 30minutes.
Unfortunately as has become familiar this season a lack of clinical finishing allowed frustration to build and to create the opportunity for the opposition to claw themselves back into the game with an equaliser before Rutland added ours and his second before half time.
The second half was a nervous affair and despite always being in front we never looked entirely comfortable with our lead and despite further goals from Moore and Miller we were grateful of the final whistle that gave us a 4-3 victory - a scoreline that barely reflected our first half dominance.
Still the all important 3 points were picked up and we go into our next 2 fixtures against Woodley and Burghfield U18 with renewed confidence and a chance to make real inroads up the league table.
Man of the Match
Tyler Feurtado. His second game at an unfamiliar left back position saw one of his most impressive performances in a Burghfield shirt. He looked every inch a footballer and his determination and movement on and off the ball was superb. Made a real statement on Saturday - well done.
