Burghfield again undone by Bracknell
By Andrew Willis
Classic game of two halves
For once an overcast cool day and the Blues started well really well with Tom bombing down the right, a touch on by Archie and Morgan finished in the middle to put the Blues 1-0 inside a minute. The first 10 minutes was pretty direct football from both sides and after 9 minutes the Blues were 2-0 when the ball was put through for Archie who finished well.
After that the Blues started to settle and play some more composed attractive football, opening up Bracknell time and time again. Some fine play by the Bracknell keeper kept them in the game as once again the Blues created lots of chances and should have extended their lead.
Bracknell were limited to long balls and forwards chasing but once again that dreaded 2-0 score-line as a minute before half-time we failed to clear the ball and a looping back-pass caught over Amani. So instead of being away and clear we went in just in the lead.
As the temperature dropped, the rain got heavier and the second half started with Bracknell tails up, winning the 50/50 balls and putting more and more pressure on the Blues. Before we knew it they were level and then ahead. Unfortunately the Blues had stopped playing football and had been drawn into a battle by Bracknell and were coming off second best.
The Blue did still get the ball forward but it was now scrappy football. 20 minutes into the second half Morgan fell badly in the area and had to come off with a concussion. This unsettled the boys for a while and while we struggled to get our composure we were again undone by a corner and with the Blues pushing for a goal were finally undone by a good free-kick.
Sadly we lost our composure today and let ourselves be drawn into a scrap which we lost.
Man of the Match today was Christian who was a rock at the back when were under pressure.
