Yet another derby draw

Fergus wonder strike earns a point
First meeting of the season against the Reds, both teams having to make some adjustments due to injuries. Not surprisingly both teams started a little tensely and not a lot of football was played in the first quarter of an hour but the Reds struck first when a header looped over keeper (1) Will G. Stung by that the Blues started to get the ball down and play a bit more football, they began to make some inroads down the right wing with Tom’s speed. After 25 minutes a ball in from Tom was controlled in the box by Archie who was clipped resulting in a penalty. Fergus stepped up to just squeeze the ball home. The Blues were probably just on top for the rest of the half but just before half-time a penalty was given to the Reds which was well dispatched beyond keeper (2) Joseph.
In the second half the Blues continued to press in search of an equaliser but the Reds held firm. One corner from Archie was flashed just wide at the near post by Tom and as the boys continued to press another excellent corner from Archie was forced home through a crowd of players by Ben.
Although the Blues had the majority of the possession the Reds were always dangerous on the break and when one attack broke down, Rory galloped up the other end to slot the ball home against keeper (3) Christian. It was all out attack from that point on in search of an equaliser, playing 3 at the back led to some scary moments and as chance after chance was missed or saved it looked like the Reds would hold on but in the last minute as the ball was cleared from the Reds box it fell to Fergus who curled a delightful shot into the net.
Yet another draw between these two teams and as always a very exciting game. Impossible to pick one MoM today as all gave everything but a big shout out to the 4 who covered goal.
