Classic game of two halves with the Blues returning to action after last weeks postponement and the way the Blues started it seemed like the gap had been a lot longer as they were well off the pace. With the wind slightly in their favour Hearts of Ted dominated possession and the Blues struggled to get a foothold in the game. HoT poured forwards often outnumbering the Blues defenders and came close on a number of occasions, winning most of the 50-50 balls. It wasn’t a surprise when they took the lead on the half-hour. The Blues somehow got back into the game just before the break when Joseph made a great break, shot towards goal and Archie was on hand to make sure the ball made it into the back of the net. The Blues started the second half better, competing better in the midfield and moving the ball forward a bit quicker and after 6 minutes Ben found Morgan who showed good strength and composure to put the Blues into the lead. The boys weren’t playing their normal passing game but were creating more pressure and after Morgan was fouled Josh stepped up to curl a lovely free kick into the net. Half an hour in Ben made another one of those great surging runs down the left to cross for Morgan to make it 4-1. HoT continued to be dangerous on the break but Will G was solid as a rock in goal. A couple of minutes from the end the boy switched off and HoT grabbed a goal to make it a slightly tense finish. Not our best performance by a long way but the boys ground out the result and credit to HoT who certainly played the better football in the first half. Many contenders for MoM, Jay did well in his first start, Morgan’s goals turned the game and Ben continued to drive the team from midfield but I gave it to Will G who had a magnificent second half in goal.
