Blues notch big score
By Andrew Willis
Hat-trick for Morgan
A really horrible winter day, cold and wet, for our last game before the Christmas break, thankfully we were playing on Binfield’s new astro turf pitch else I doubt the game would have taken place.
The game started fairly evenly but a crunching, but fair, tackle by Christian saw the first Binfield player leave the field, shortly after a corner by Archie falling under the Binfield bar was knocked into his own net by the keeper. Another firm but fair challenge this time by Joseph say another Binfield player fall awkwardly and leave the field. The Blues were well on top now, creating lots of pressure and chances though squandering most. After sixteen minutes Josh put Morgan through who finished well to make it 2-0. Mounting pressure and more corners saw the 3rd and 4th goals. On the half hour Morgan got his second and before half time Ben followed up on Josh’s shot to make it 6.
In the second half Miller went in goal and soon Josh finished with a lovely chip and then Curtis scored with a lovely shot to cap his excellent performance. As the Blues poured forwards Archie made it 9 before Joseph brought up double figures with a wonderful shot. Now with the William ‘brothers’ up front Will G scored and then Fergus finally finished one of his many chances to make it 12. Before the game finished Morgan managed to complete his hat-trick.
Credit to the Binfield players, who are having a tough season, but never stopped battling and were always up against it a man short for much of the game and finishing with only 9 players.
Not the best day to be try be trying to keep a note of scorers on a damp piece of paper with freezing hands.
Man of the Match today went to Joseph who worked really hard all game, created many chances and finally got his reward with a lovely shot from outside the box.
