Top two clash

Darby Green win out .... just
Blues entertained Darby Green for this top of the table clash so we knew this would be a tough game. Darby Green started the stronger and the boys were having to work very hard to gain much possession. When the Blues did the ball in attacking positions they were met in numbers and struggled to create many clear chances.
Darby Green were very dangerous on the break, attacking with pace and strength and the boys at the back had to be on their toes to contain them and on one such break the No 9 broke free and crossed for another Darby Green player to score.
The goal injected a bit more fire into the Blues and the rest of the half was pretty even.
Into the second half and the boys continued to search for a goal but another break saw the pacey Darby forward catch us light the back and despite best efforts he squeezed the ball home to make it 0-2.
At this point the boys could have given the game up but with typical Blues grit they dug in and pushed on, Tom was getting more into the game down the right and causing problems with his pace and as the Blues pressed forwards the ball broke to Fergus outside the box who curled yet another delightful shot into the goal, game on!
With only a few minutes remaining the Blue pressed forwards and were now well on top and at last Darby Green were beginning to crack. Corner after corner was won but in the end the clock beat us and Darby Green took the points. This was a really good competitive and entertaining game, no quarter asked nor given. In the end Darby Green probably just about deserved the points. With the current challenges with keepers and defenders this was a great effort by the Blues. Special mention to Will G who volunteered for the whole game in goal and did a great job and Man of the Match went to Christian who contained the best striker in the division for most the game.
