Scrappy draw for Blues

Archie grabs an equaliser.
Luckily MWE pitch had held up pretty well after last weeks snow and the midweek rain as the Blues welcomed Ascot.
Kick off was delayed 15 minutes whilst we waited for an Ascot player to arrive who had broken down on route and had to call an Uber to get to the game.
The Blues started frustratingly slowly and with a strong wind against them they struggled to get out of their half. Ascot were winning most of the 50-50 balls and no sooner had the Blues got the ball forwards it was heading back towards their own goal. Neither side was really creating clear cut chances but after 20 minutes a ball into the Blues area was deflected past Will to give Ascot the lead. The strong wind was making football difficult but the Blues weren’t helping themselves with a lack of support each other both in football and vocal terms.
Second half the Blues hoped for a bit more possession but they still weren’t having much joy and Ascot looked the more dangerous on the break. Slowly Burghfield started to create a little more pressure and saw a number of corners and free kicks but weren’t troubling the Ascot keeper too much. Finally in the final quarter a quick ball into the area Curtis caused confusion in the Ascot area and as their keeper collided with a defender the ball broke to Archie to directed it goal-wards.
Unfortunately the remainder of the game was rather bad tempered which was a shame.
A puzzling game, recently the boys have been playing an electric passing game in practice but that was no-where to be seen today and the Blues were well below their best and probably a bit lucky to get away with a point.
Man of the match went to Morgan who after playing up front in the first half covered full back and then in goal in the second showing great support for the team.
