This summer we were delighted to add the U11 Lions as a new team within our U11 age group. Along with the new side, this also bought a new sponsor to the club, AES Metals.

AES Metals was established in 1998 by Allan Edward Smith (AES) supplying semi-finished aluminium and brass products to UK customers on behalf of leading Italian manufacturers.

“Allan retired in 2015 but in true Italian tradition the business remains in the family, which I now run from our office in Bramley”, Charlie explained.

“We supply aluminium rods and bars for high speed machining and the manufacture of multiple precision components as well as special shaped profiles for use in automotive, hydraulic and pneumatic applications.

“Our brass products are supplied as tubes or in special shapes for architectural and decorative purposes; next time you are in a restaurant, bar, hotel or theatre look at the fittings or handrails on the stairs or the stair nosings on the carpet, if these are brass (shiny and yellow) we could well have supplied the material.

“We also supply the metal to manufacture solid brass padlocks and hinges which continue to be manufactured in the UK – I am usually given a funny look when found looking at door hinges in public!”

Two examples of projects where brass supplied by AES has been used are the window detail in the £23 million Weston Tower at Westminster Abbey and the new windows and doors for the new flagship Belstaff Store on Regent Street, London.
