Following the plethora of postponements last week, it was good to see a return to action for the majority of our teams again this weekend.

The Saturday First Team got their Thames Valley Premier League campaign underway on Saturday afternoon as they travelled to Surrey to face Windlesham & Chobham. After a goalless first half, Lewis Butcher broke the deadlock on the hour mark, and this was enough to secure the points in Mellers first competitive game in charge.

Also getting their league season underway this weekend were our Sunday First Team, who visited Henley Town. A hat-trick from Jack Bowyer and a Dan O’Rourke goal were enough to earn a 4-3 victory and get their season off to a winning start.

Our Sunday Reserves took on Junction United at the Rec on Sunday morning. A tough game against a good side saw us defeated 3-0.

The Sunday A Team began their league campaign against Woodley Wanderers A at CSA. Goals from Josh Mehmet-Ali, Phil Lee and Vinny Kennedy saw us lead 3-1 before the visitors made a comeback to level the match. As both sides looked for a winner Vinny Kennedy got his second goal of the game late on to secure the points and a well-deserved 4-3 victory.

Also at CSA on Sunday morning the Sunday B Team played their opening league game of the season against Give Back FC. The team put in a battling performance against a very strong opposition, finishing on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline, with all of the goals going in during the first half. Jack Matkin and Jamie Bushnell were on the scoresheet for us.

The U17 Reds travelled to FC Bracknell on Saturday morning, coming away with a 2-1 victory to maintain their 100% start to the EBFA league season and retain their spot at the top of the table.

A tough test for the U17 Blues on Saturday as they took on league leaders AFC Whitchurch Woodcutters. A competitive encounter was settled by a single goal just before the break as we were defeated 1-0. You can read a match report from this game HERE.

The U16’s were involved in EBFA action as they played host to Spencers Wood Tornadoes, unfortunately suffering a 2-0 defeat.

Our U15 Buffalos were away at Woodley Saints Wolves on Saturday morning, coming away with a decent 2-1 victory to continue their good start to the season in EBFA Division Four.

With no league game this weekend, the U15 Bears played a friendly at home against Ascot United Athletic, putting in a good performance to win the game 6-1.

The U14’s suffered a 4-1 defeat as they visited Berks Elite Black on Saturday in their EBFA Division Five clash.

A mixed day for the U13 age group at Mortimer West End on Saturday morning, The U13 Bisons put in a fantastic performance against a Spencers Wood Spartans side who had only conceded once this season, winning the game 7-2 with goals from Eddie Riches, Owen Evans (2), Kai Trust (2), Sam Davies and Kaiyon McKenna.

It was a disappointing result for the U13 Buffalos as they suffered a 6-0 defeat against Maidenhead Boys & Girls Panthers, with three goals going in during the final 10 minutes.

The U12 Rangers made the long journey to West London to take on league leaders Hearts of Teddlothian Panthers on Saturday morning, putting in a huge effort to come away with a 1-0 victory.

The U12 Tridents secured a good 3-1 victory at home against Twyford Comets Rangers to book their place in the next round of the EBFA Cup.

Also in EBFA cup action this weekend were our U11 Lions, U11 Tigers, U9 Yellows, U9 Reds and U9 Oranges.

Our U11 Cobras, U11 Pythons, U11 Vipers and U10’s were involved in the BYDL Cup, and our U8 Reds, U8 Greens, U7 Ice and U7 Bluebirds continued their BYDL league fixtures.
