Another busy weekend saw our men's teams go unbeaten whilst the majority of our youth teams were in EBFA and BYDL action.

The Saturday First Team continued their Thames Valley Premier League campaign as they travelled away to league leaders Finchampstead on Saturday, looking to bounce back after last week’s late derby defeat. A hard-fought game ended in a 3-3 draw, with our goals coming from Josh Cook and an Ollie Brown double.

First Team manager Steve Melledew commented, ‘A draw was a fair result. For the new squad we have a lot to learn in game, but they are learning game by game.”

The Saturday Reserves faced Henley Town Development at CSA in a high-scoring game that finished 4-4. Goalscorers for us were Callum Anderton, Kieran Smith, Angus McWilliam and Jack Matkin.

The rain overnight on Saturday meant we unfortunately lost two of our Sunday men’s games to the weather, but we were still involved in some Reading & District Sunday League action this weekend. The Sunday Reserves put in an excellent performance to win 2-0 away at Berkshire Dons, thanks to goals from Kieran Smith and Elliot Telford.

Our Sunday B Team travelled to Coley Rec to face FC Whitley Wood on Sunday morning. Another great performance saw us claim all three points with a fantastic 4-1 victory. Goals from Owen Brown, Tom McClellan, Andy Sharp and Peter Hutchinson capped a good weekend for our men’s teams as all our sides went unbeaten.

On Saturday morning the Under 17 Reds took on Aborfield Aces, unfortunately suffering a 4-1 away defeat. Despite the disappointing result the team remain well placed in EBFA Division Three following their strong start to the season.

The Under 16’s travelled away to a strong Purley Jubilee Blues side in EBFA Division Four on Saturday, finishing on the wrong end of an 7-2 scoreline.

It was the same 7-2 result, but this time in our favour for the Under 15 Bears as they comfortably beat Spencers Wood Scorpions at home. The result leaves the side in second place in EBFA Division Four with a game in hand.

Our Under 15 Buffalos faced the league leaders in the same division, Woodley United Rangers on Saturday morning. A tough test for our side as we were defeated 3-0.

The U14’s travelled away to take on Goring Robins, where they were beaten 9-1 on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon the U13 Bisons produced a fantastic performance to win 3-2 away at South Reading, despite playing the second half with only 10 players due to injury and unavailability. A brace from Owen Evans and a Sam Davies goal secured the three points.

The U13 Buffalos faced Pinewood Predators at Mortimer West End in EBFA Division Seven. Despite some good spells throughout the game they were beaten 5-2. Our goals coming from an Alfie Clarke penalty and a late Sam Lambourne strike.

Also in EBFA league action this weekend were our U11 Lions and Under 11 Tigers, while our U9 Oranges, U9 Reds and U9 Yellows were involved in EBFA Cup fixtures.

In BYDL on Saturday morning there were games for our U11 Cobras, U11 Pythons, U11 Vipers, U10’s, U8 Greens, U8 Reds and an all Burghfield clash between our U7 Bluebirds and U7 Ice.
