The weather got the better of nearly all games this weekend, but a handful of matches did manage to survive the rain.

It was hugely disappointing to see so many fixtures postponed this weekend, as the weather unfortunately delayed the beginning of the Thames Valley Premier League season for both our Saturday men’s sides.

We also lost three out of the four games that were due to begin the season for our Sunday men’s the following day, however the Sunday Reserves did manage to play their game away at Calcot Royals in Reading & District Sunday League Division Two.

It was a first league game in charge for Matt Heath and Ian Wise, and they got off to a great start with a solid 3-1 victory. Two goals from Jason Heath, including one from the penalty spot, and a third from Harry Jones were enough to secure the three points and get the side off to the mark for the season.

On Saturday morning the pitch at Mortimer West End also survived the rain, allowing both our U13 teams to play their EBFA Cup fixtures.

The U13 Bisons faced Windsor Youth Swifts Reds, battling back from two early goals behind to level the scores at half time with Kai Trust and Sam Davies on the scoresheet. Windsor got back in front early in the second half though and then sealed the win late on to make it 4-2 at full time.

Our U13 Buffalos took on Wargrave Wolves Reds, putting in a battling performance to progress to the next round with a 2-1 victory, with both goals coming from Mac Aduafo.

The only other fixtures unaffected by the weather this weekend were the BYDL games played on the all-weather pitches at Goals, as our U8 Greens, U8 Reds, U7 Ice and U7 Bluebirds were all in action.
