Another hot day at Darby Green and the Blues look to build on their opening day win against the always competitive Darby Green.
Usual Blues start with most of the possession going to the opposition and Blues a bit off the pace. Defence and Amani having to soak up some pressure before the boys start to get into the game about 20 minutes in.
Half an hour into the game the Blues really gets going as Archie gets a 1 on 1 with the last defender shows great strength and deftly lifts the ball past the keeper. Five minutes later a quickly taken free kick by Curtis sees Archie in for his second and the Blue machine starts to purr. As usual the Blues like to make a game of it, letting Darby Green in for a goal, for a minute it looks liked we were going to repeat the opening game mistakes but the boys settled and just before half time Tom played in Archie for his hat-trick to put the Blues 1-3 up at half-time.
The boys started the second half much better, keeping possesion and starting to play some nice passing moves, one of which sees Morgan play in Curtis who despite being fouled stayed on his feet to finish well. Ten minutes later Fergus and Tom combined to put Morgan in to make it 1-5. As Darby Green tired the Blues created more and more chances and another assist by Tom saw Fergus score the sixth.
Still a work in progress but the boys are starting to deliver what we've worked on in training and are looking a good unit. Man of the Match this week to Archie who was excellent all game and is looking like a real striker.
