Well they say it’s a funny old game and that was very apt this week. The game started well enough with the Blues on the offensive from the kick-off and playing some nice passing football. Joseph on his debut made some nice attacking runs and after just 6 minutes Josh put Morgan in for the opening goal. Although the Blues controlled possession for long periods, Bracknell broke dangerously and a number of times caught the Blues 4 on 4. The Blues continued to make plenty of chances but were punished for not being more clinical when they gave a penalty away after 25 minutes and then a few minutes later a cross from the right looped over a helpless Amani to give Bracknell the lead. Just before half time Fergus ended another great run with a shot that crashed against the bar.
The second half continued in much the same vain with the Blues playing nice football, creating chances but not able to find the finishing touch, then after 20 minutes another dangerous in-swinging Bracknell corner was bent in right under the bar to make it 3-1 to the home side. For the rest the of the game the Blues poured forwards in search of a goal, the final 10 minutes saw a series of dangerous crosses and corners flying across the Bracknell goal but somehow the ball stayed out. Credit to the Bracknell keeper who played really well. 1973 England v Poland came to mind.
Man of the Match this week was Fergus whose mazy runs created many of the Blues chances.
