More football like weather this week and after recent rain a softer pitch as we visited Yateley.
Still only 11 players this week but better than last week’s 10. Game began a little scrapy, Blues not really putting many passes together and neither side really controlling possession. A cross wind slightly against and playing with 10 players for 20 minutes after first Fergus left the field to adjust his blood sugar and then Morgan became our first player in the sin-bin after getting frustrated when a decision went against him, didn’t really help us get control of the game so we reached half-time 0-0.
Second half and now with the wind slightly in our favour we began to put pressure on Yateley and in the first minute we won a corner on the left, we’d been working on in-swinging corners in training and the kick from Josh caused havoc in the six yard box with Morgan touching the ball home at the back post. 5 minutes later the ball was cleared by the Yateley defence only to fall to Curtis who lashed it home from 35 yards. Now the boys were starting to play, with some lovely one touch passing moves. A jinking run by Fergus on the edge of the area ended with a foul and Josh curled the ball home. The Blues were in total control now but as sometimes happens they relaxed a bit at the back and allowed Yateley a goal back from a corner. Not long after and another corner from Josh resulted in Archie poking the ball home to restore the 3 goal cushion and with 10 minutes to play Christian replaced Will in goal and the boys finished the game well to give us a first win of the season.
Man of the match had to go to Josh who made 2 and scored one as well as having another good game in midfield.
