Respect The Ref
Every match. Every league. Every championship. It’s the referees who are integral to a smooth-running game.
The FA have recently launched the #RespectTheRef campaign, encouraging everyone to play their part in showing respect to referees.
Berks & Bucks FA have recently been receiving several reports of poor behaviour towards referees, not just at open-aged level, but also across youth level too. Often referees at this level are as young as 16 or 17 years old and are the future of the game.
A few years ago the FA produced a fantastic advert with Ray Winstone as part of the Respect campaign, to demonstrate coaches behaviour towards referees. We would encourage all of our coaches at all levels to watch the video HERE.
As a club we believe it is integral that everyone - from players to coaches and supporters - are fully educated on the importance of appropriate behaviour across both youth and senior football.
We can all play our part to show the ref some respect, to help make the game the best it can be.
