Another busy weekend saw a disappointing derby defeat for the First Team but some great results across our various other senior and youth sides.

The First Team were involved in another Thames Valley Premier League local derby as we faced Mortimer at Alfred Palmer Memorial Fields. Our hosts took an early lead, but despite us hitting the woodwork three times we were unable to find a way back into the game as it ended 1-0 on a disappointing afternoon.

In TVPL Division Three on Saturday the Reserves continued our 100% start to the season with a fantastic 6-0 victory against Goring United Reserves at the Rec. Fred Taucher gave us an early lead before Kieran Smith and Luke Stroud also got onto the scoresheet before the break. Leon Hewitt, Celestine Simba and Tom Adams all added second-half goals to secure a comfortable win.

Manager James Randall said, “Very proud gaffer after today’s performance, every player from 1 to 16 played their part. We’ve had a great start to the season but this group is still growing and we’ve got a long way to go yet.”

Our Sunday Firsts were in Tilehurst Charity Cup action at the Rec on Sunday morning, suffering a 1-0 defeat against FC Sporty.

The Sunday Reserves travelled to Woodford Park to face GC United in Reading & District Sunday League Division One, securing a good 4-3 victory with goals from Jim Hardy, Jason Heath, Samson Lace and a late winner from Rob Timbers.

The Sunday A’s maintained the 100% start to the season with a 7-2 victory over early league leaders Caversham AFC. Goals from Phil Lee, Morgan Parsley, Vinny Kennedy, Josh Mehmet-Ali (2), James Moring and George Walters ensured an emphatic win at CSA on Sunday morning.

The Ladies made the long journey to West London on Sunday afternoon to face Hillingdon Abbots Reserves in TVCWFL Development Division. Despite a Helen Middleton goal, we were unable to find an equaliser as we were defeated 2-1.

On Saturday morning our U18’s travelled away to AFC Henley Hotspur in EBFA Division Three, unfortunately suffering a 6-2 defeat.

Our U17’s faced Berks County Cobras at CSA on Saturday morning. The visitors took the lead mid-way through the first-half, before Luke Mason levelled the scored. Jos Wheeler put us in front just after the break and Angelo Santana-Welch added a third shortly after. Berks County pulled another back late on but it was not enough as we held on to claim a good 3-2 victory.

At Willink on Saturday morning the U16 Bears faced Wargrave Wolves, coming out on the wrong end of a tight 2-1 scoreline.

Our U16 Buffalos faced Woodley Saints in EBFA Division Four on Saturday, securing an excellent 3-1 away win.

The U15’s drew 2-2 with Hurst Youth Hurricanes at Willink on Saturday morning in EBFA Division Six.

Our U14 Buffalos made it back-to-back EBFA Division Eight victories with a 2-1 win away at Woodley Saints Kestrels. After a goalless first half our hosts took the lead, before a late Mac Adufo strike levelled the scores. With the last kick of the game Mac then got his second as we claimed all three points.

On Saturday morning our U13 Rangers, travelled away to Binfield Predators, suffering a 2-1 defeat.

The U13 Lions were also on the road on Saturday, as we faced Ascot United Racers in EBFA Division Three. An excellent 4-0 victory ensured the team made it three wins in a row to continue our good form.

The U13 Tridents hosted AFC Reading Red Arrows on Saturday morning in a close game that finished 2-1 to our visitors.

The U12 Vipers faced Eversley & California Youth Royals at the Rec on Saturday. We went behind in the first-half, before goals from Kian Evans and Owen Jeffery turned things around after the break. The visitors then levelled the scores late on as it finished 2-2.

Our U12 Tigers secured an excellent 4-2 victory against Pinewood Piranhas in EBFA Division Eight.

In BYDL our U12 Pythons were defeated 5-2 as we faced Reading Tigers at Cintra Park.

Also in action on Saturday morning were our U11’s, U10 Orange, U10 Red, U10 Yellow, U9 White, U9 Green, U9 Red, U8 Ice, U8 Bluebirds, U8 Eagles, U8 Lions, U7 Lions, U7 Pumas, U7 Panthers, U7 Tigers and U7 Jaguars.
