Burghfield Football Club are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a charity game between a Jamie Lucas XI, consisting of players past and present, and a Burghfield FC XI, which will be made up of players from the current Men's teams. All of the proceeds raised from the day will be donated to the Adelaide Ward at The Royal Berkshire Hospital (Charity Number: 1052720).
Jamie Lucas, who currently plays for our Men's Sunday team, is one of the longest serving players at the club and he was unfortunately diagnosed with Cancer in January of this year. Jamie is currently receiving treatment and extensive care at The Royal Berks in the Adelaide Ward, which is known for its post diagnosis care for Cancer patients.
The treatment and care that Jamie has received has been exceptional and everyone at Burghfield Football Club would like to help support Jamie in his thanks to the Adelaide Ward and its wonderful staff by raising as much money in his name as possible.
The game will be a standard 11-a-side match played across 2 halves of 45 minutes. We will also end the game with a penalty shootout, no matter what the final score is.
We will then hold a presentation to the celebrate the winning team and the Man of the Match. These 2 awards will both be presented by Jamie Lucas.
After the game we would like to invite all of the players and spectators to join us for a few drinks and some music in the bar!
There will be a bar, BBQ and tuck shop available throughout the day for spectators (and maybe the players!).
Please come down and show your support for the club in helping the excellent staff at The Royal Berks!
