The latest FA guidance allows grassroots football to continue despite Berkshire being moved into Tier 3 from Saturday.

The Government announced this afternoon that from 00:01 on Saturday 19th December, Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire will be moving into Tier 3 restrictions.

Despite the move to the higher tier, the latest FA guidance currently allows for the continuation of grassroots football.

The guidance issued on 2nd December states the following:

  • Outdoor training, leagues and competition is allowed in Tier 3 areas.
  • There is an exemption for travel in Tier 3, for under-18's, disability teams, volunteers, match officials, guardians, elite players and those travelling for work.
  • Spectators are permitted, but must follow the rule of six and Government guidance on restrictions in certain tiers.

We would like to reiterate the importance that all players, coaches, match officials and spectators continue to strictly follow both the UK Government's latest guidance and respective bespoke guidance from the FA.

We anticipate that leagues will communicate their own updates following todays announcement before the weekend's fixtures, and will keep all members updated with the latest information as and when we get it.
