First Team Forward on International Duty

Burghfield FC7 Sep 2023 - 09:30

Saturday First Team forward Calvin Morgan has been called up to represent Anguilla in the CONCACAF Nations League.

We are delighted to have a club first, as Saturday First Team forward Calvin Morgan has received an international call-up to represent Anguilla in the CONCACAF Nations League Group G match against St. Martin on 7th September.

Calvin joined the club this summer having previously played for Chalvey Sports, and made his competitive debut for us away at Windsor & Eton last month.

The match against St. Martin will be an opportunity for Calvin to earn his 13th cap for Anguilla, having scored one international goal already in his previous 12 caps for the British Overseas Territory. His last appearance for Anguilla was in a 2-1 defeat against Saint Lucia in March.

The Anguilla national team played their first ever international fixture in October 1985, suffering a 1-0 defeat against British Virgin Islands, and have appeared in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers since the 2002 qualifying campaign for the World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

Calvin is joined in the squad by a number of other UK based players, including Luke Paris (Uxbridge), Kian Duncan (Sandhurst Town), Kanye Connor (Chalfont St. Peter) and Rasharn McDonald-Baptiste (Reading Youth).

The Nations League fixture against St. Martin will take place at 9PM UK time on Thursday 7th September at the Raymond Gordon Ernest Guishard Technical Centre in Anguilla.
