The Government and FA have confirmed that grassroots football can resume again from next week.

The Government has announced that from next Wednesday (2 Dec), organised grassroots sport will be allowed to resume as the latest national Covid-19 lockdown restrictions expire.

A statement from the FA said “We welcome the UK Government’s announcement today and we are very pleased that organised sports, which include Steps 3-6 of the National League System [NLS], Tiers 3-6 of the Women’s Football Pyramid [WFP] and competitive grassroots football, can look forward to resuming from 2nd December.

“We will continue our ongoing dialogue with Government to clarify the details and next steps and provide further updates in due course.”

Our intention is to resume training from Wednesday 2nd December, subject to confirmation from our training venues and clarification that West Berkshire will not be included as part of the Tier 3 restrictions.

We have received confirmation from Thames Valley Premier League, Reading & District Sunday League and EBFA that they are intending to resume league fixtures from the weekend 5/6 December 2020.

We are still awaiting confirmation from BYDL of their planned restart date.

We will of course keep all members updated as and when we receive any further information, and Heads of Age will be in contact to provide an update on the resumption of training and fixtures for their specific age groups.
