Steve returns to the role having previously overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s history during his four years in charge between 2020 and 2024.
During his previous spell as manager, Mellers led the team to four consecutive top-four finishes in the Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division - the highest league finishes in the club’s history - including a runners-up finish in the 2021/22 season.
His time at the helm culminated in a historic cup double in 2024, lifting both the Berks & Bucks Charles Twelftree Trophy and the Thames Valley Premier League BTC Senior Cup.
Steve will be joined by Lee Malham, who was a key member of the management team throughout his previous spell in charge. The pair will once again work together as they prepare the squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
Speaking following his appointment, Steve said:
“I’m delighted to be back home and working with the club once again. I’m excited to work with all the players, including those from my previous spell, the new additions to the squad and supporting the development of our youth players over the coming seasons.
Burghfield is filled with great people throughout the club, and I am proud to continue developing the pathway into senior football. We have a strong foundation in place, and I’m looking forward to getting started and building towards the new season.”
