The Men's Sunday Firsts are through to the last 32 of the FA Sunday Cup after defeating Flaunden at Bovingdon FC in Hertfordshire on Sunday afternoon (13th Nov).

We started strongly, taking an early lead when Ollie Brown rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home into an empty net on 7 minutes.

Just before the half-hour the hosts were reduced to 10-men, with a Flaunden player reacting badly to a strong but fair challenge that saw the referee produce a red card.

We continued to dominate possession and looked the far superior team, eventually getting a deserved second goal five minutes before the break. Elliot Telford put over a cross from the right that was turned back into the box by Josh Howell, with Ollie Brown there to produce a neat finish to double our lead.

We started the second-half where we had left off, and added a third when Ryan Farmer headed in a Josh Howell free-kick from the right touchline.

With nothing to lose Flaunden upped their game, and produced an excellent comeback with three goals in 20 minutes, including one from the penalty-spot, to draw the game level and set up a tense finish.

Despite momentum being with the home side we broke away and James Sayer produced an excellent finish to beat the goalkeeper at his near post with just over five minutes of the game remaining. We then managed to control the game and see it out to secure the victory.

We are now into the hat for the last 32 draw of the country's biggest national Sunday League knock-out tournament, due to take place tomorrow (14th Nov), with matches scheduled for Sunday 11th December 2022.
