The Men's Sunday Firsts secured silverware with an excellent performance on Wednesday night (17th May) as we won the Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Cup.
We faced Bracknell & District Sunday League Champions, Bracknell Rangers, with the match played at Holloways Park, the home of Beaconsfield Town FC.
We started strongly, nearly taking the lead within the opening minutes as Ollie Brown got in behind the Bracknell defence but put his finish just past the post.
This was a sign of things to come though, and we took the lead on 11 minutes, when Jack Bowyer headed a Harry Peters cross from the right into the path of Ollie Brown, who drilled a low finish past the Bracknell goalkeeper.
Seven minutes later we doubled our lead, with Jack Bowyer again providing the assist, playing a pass in behind the opposition defence for Ollie to run onto and calmly place the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper for his second of the evening.
The scoreline remained the same until the break, when we were forced into a change of goalkeeper as Paul Taplin replaced the injured Brian Parr.
Bracknell came out strongly for the second-half, pulling a goal back within five minutes of the restart and looking to cause our defence some problems. However, we regained our two goal advantage just before the hour as Ollie Brown completed his hat-trick with a well taken finish.
With tensions rising, both sides were reduced to ten men following a scuffle late on, before we secured the win with a fourth goal in stoppage time. A Bracknell free-kick fell our way as Matt Symington broke forward before playing in substitute Tom McClellan to slide the ball into the empty net.
The final whistle soon followed and captain Ryan Farmer lifted the trophy on a memorable night for the club that saw us crowned 2023 Sunday County Cup Winners.
