Four of our Ladies players will be taking part in the dawn to dusk event in June, raising money for Action Medical Research.

Four teammates from Burghfield Ladies are carrying out an extraordinary challenge this June, in order to raise funds for Action Medical Research.

Laura Middleton, Helen Middleton, Sophie Beake and Jo Plumley are taking part in ‘Race the Sun’, a challenge that pits teams of four against the clock in a Triathlon-style charity fundraising challenge competing in three disciplines, cycling, hiking and canoeing, racing the setting sun to be crowned champions.

The event involves a 55-mile cycle around the incredible winding lanes of the Brecon Beacons, navigating a 2-mile course on Lake Llangorse in an open top canoe, and finally summiting Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons and a famous testing ground for the British Army, with an altitude of 886m, on an 8-mile round trip.

In order to secure a place, the ladies need to raise a combined total of £1,800 for Action Medical Research, the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. By supporting them, you are helping to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.

This is an extremely challenging event, raising money for a fantastic cause. So please, if you could spare a little change, head over to the ladies JustGiving page.
