Weekend Round-Up - 4/5 October 2025

Burghfield FC7 Oct - 07:00

Cup action, big wins and standout performances across another busy weekend of football.

Mens

It was cup action for several of our men’s sides this weekend. The Saturday Reserves exited the BTC Intermediate Cup after a narrow 2-1 defeat against Bracknell Athletic, with Mattie James finding the net.

In national competition, the Sunday Firsts bowed out of the FA Sunday Cup following a 3-1 loss against FC Bapco, Alex Miller scoring their only goal of the afternoon. The Sunday Reserves also saw their Tilehurst Charity Cup run come to an end after a tight 1-0 defeat by Allied Community Elite.

There was better news for the Sunday A’s, who edged past The Volly 2-1 thanks to goals from Scott Williamson and James Shaw. The Sunday B’s endured a difficult outing, falling 6-0 away to Three Towers United.

Ladies

The Ladies First Team produced a fine attacking display to beat Denham United Ladies Reserves 5-2. Ava Sims and Katy Clapman both struck twice, with Isabelle Folkard also on target in a confident performance that continues their strong start to the season.

Youth

The U17 Rangers earned an impressive 4-2 win away at Whiteknights Blues, continuing their early-season momentum.

Among the U16s, the Tigers were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Reading City United, while the Pythons drew 1-1 at Ashridge Park Royals with William Folkard on target once again. The Vipers suffered a 4-1 defeat to FC Cayman despite a goal from Joel Hawkins.

The U15s delivered one of the standout youth results of the weekend, cruising to a 7-1 win away at Hurst Tornadoes.

At U14 level, the Colts drew 2-2 with Winnersh Rangers Jets, the Raiders fell to a 6-0 loss at AFC Newbury, while the Bears battled to a 2-1 victory over Ashridge Park Royals. The Girls lost 3-1 at Twyford Comets in another competitive encounter.

Among the U13s, the Titans went down 4-0 at AFC Reading Tornadoes and the Raptors were beaten 7-0 at Ashridge Park Royals, while the Warriors continued their strong form with an excellent 6-0 away win at Winnersh Rangers Falcons.

There were mixed fortunes for our U12s — the Ice lost 3-1 against Hurst Raptors, but the Bluebirds claimed a thrilling 4-3 win over Whitegrove & Warfield to round off the weekend’s results.

Also in action in BYFL over the weekend were the U11 Tornadoes, U11 Panthers, U11 Hurricanes, U11 Typhoons, U10 Tigers, U10 Panthers, U10 Jaguars, U10 Lions, U9 Bolts, U9 Bisons, U8 Eagles, U8 Falcons, U8 Hawks, U8 Kites, U7 Vipers, U7 Cobras and U7 Pythons.
