We are delighted that our club secretary, Yvonne Mattos, has been shortlisted for a Berkshire Football Award.

On Monday afternoon (23 May) Football in Berkshire announced the shortlisted nominations for the 2022 Berkshire Football Awards, including our own club secretary, Yvonne Mattos, in the 'Volunteer of the Season' category.

The nomination for the Supporters Trust At Reading (STAR) Volunteer of the Season award said: “Yvonne deals with Burghfield FC every single day whilst working full time. She does an incredible job within the six men’s teams across a Saturday and Sunday and then the various age groups. She has basically been at BFC since the start, over 30 years. It’s her pride and joy and she gives blood, sweat and tears to the club. Think it is time some public recognition for her efforts are awarded.”

The shortlisted nomination is well deserved and we are delighted to see the work Yvonne puts in behind the scenes at the club being duly recognised.

The shortlists were whittled down by the Football in Berkshire panel of judges from the Long List that was published on Friday (20 May), that had included six nominations across the club, including 'Goal of the Season' for Lewis Butcher and 'Manager of the Season' for First Team Manager, Steve Melledew.

The Awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 15th June 2022 at Double Barrelled Brewery in Reading, with the night hosted by Sky Sports Presenter Tom White.
